KHELL COMEDY

POVERTY AND HAPPINESS
"Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life."
OMAR KHAYYAM
The great poet could have been referring to the Adivasis of Adilabad who make most of the moment. Poverty has never deterred the aboriginal people from celebrating the moment.
The Kolam tribe is a fine example of living for the moment as these people never let go of a chance of a hearty laugh despite the hardships caused by lack of money, water or having to toil in hot sun. Jesters are an essential part of the weddings which are performed in traditional manner.
That the poor Kolams are a creative bunch also becomes evident during such occasions. They use locally available material as props.
Here, the duo is entertaining guests as the suitor on horseback woos the woman on the sidelines of a wedding at Pataguda in Indervelli Revenue mandal in Adilabad district, Telangana. All part of the comic interlude called khel.
